A campaign is gathering pace to help Amelia Kolpa reach her goal of receiving 8,000 birthday cards for her 8th birthday on Monday 3 March 2026. Amelia is from Rowley Regis in the Black Country.

The appeal has spread quickly beyond her local area, with businesses, community groups and organisations across the region offering to help by creating collection points so cards can be delivered in bulk.
Amelia’s story (why the campaign started)
Amelia, who is from Rowley Regis, has been living with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma and has spent much of her life in and out of hospital. Reports about the appeal say she is currently receiving palliative care, and the campaign to collect 8,000 birthday cards was started to lift her spirits and help make her 8th birthday feel extra special.
Why Staffordshire is getting involved
Even though Amelia isn’t based in Staffordshire, local support is growing here too. Several Staffordshire organisations have offered to act as drop-off points, making it easier for people who want to take part without needing to post individual cards. (The idea is that locations collect cards and then arrange delivery together.)

More drop-off points are expected to be added as the list develops.

How to help (and what to include)
Supporters are being encouraged to send a birthday card with a short message for Amelia. The campaign has been widely shared across social media and community networks, with organisers saying every card helps and that bulk drop-offs make the logistics far easier.
If you’re a local business or organisation that would like to become a Staffordshire drop-off point, you can message The Staffordshire Spotter and you’ll be added to the growing list.
