CCPA delivers 1,815 birthday cards to Amelia Kolpa as card appeal brings huge support

Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance (CCPA) has shared an update after delivering 1,815 birthday cards to Amelia Kolpa as she celebrated her 8th birthday.

In a post shared yesterday, CCPA thanked the community for coming together with cards and gifts, and said the total delivered by their team reached 1,815.

Amelia’s birthday wish

CCPA first shared the appeal in January, saying Amelia had one special birthday wish: to receive 8,000 birthday cards and try to beat a UK record.

Amelia has neuroblastoma and CCPA said she is currently receiving palliative care, with her family focusing on keeping her comfortable and pain free.

In the weeks that followed, the appeal spread far beyond the local area. Reports in the wider press said the total number of cards sent to Amelia grew into the hundreds of thousands, with one report putting the figure at around 250,000.

Local support and collection points

CCPA has been personally supporting Amelia’s family and acted as one of the collection points for the appeal, with cards dropped off at their Stafford base.

They also credited the wider community for making it happen, including businesses and organisations that did their own collections and then delivered big bundles to CCPA to pass on.

In one earlier update, CCPA said the onsite cafe at Beaconside Business Village delivered 240 signed cards, and they gave a special thank you to Staffordshire Police for contributing 107 of those.

What CCPA does

CCPA is a charity that supports families after a childhood cancer diagnosis, offering support and advice during and after treatment, and supporting the wider family too, including siblings and grandparents.
