Baswich Lane gas works update: Cadent confirms traffic management in four stages

Updated: Feb 5

Following a public meeting with Cadent at Baswich Church Hall, residents have received a clearer update on the upcoming gas main replacement works on Baswich Lane in Stafford.

Cadent has now confirmed that the works will not involve a full road closure. Instead, Baswich Lane is expected to remain open with traffic management in place (such as temporary lights, lane restrictions or controlled access), depending on which section is being worked on at the time.

Dates and what’s planned

The gas main replacement programme is scheduled to run from 6 February to 27 March. Cadent has said the works will be carried out in four stages along Baswich Lane.

I’ll be adding the detailed stage plan into the article once it’s confirmed and shared.

Four-stage programme (estimated dates)

These dates are estimated and taken from one.network, meaning they may change as the programme progresses:

  • Stage 1: 9 Feb to 20 Feb

  • Stage 2: 16 Feb to 27 Feb

  • Stage 3: 23 Feb to 6 Mar

  • Stage 4: 2 Mar to 20 Mar

You may notice the dates overlap, which suggests the programme could shift depending on progress, or that different sections may be prepared or worked on in close succession.
