Roadworks Set To Begin At Creswell Grove For Stafford Gate Scheme

A major road scheme is set to begin at Creswell Grove in Stafford as part of the new Stafford Gate commercial development near M6 Junction 14.

The works will take place on A5013 Creswell Grove, A5013 Eccleshall Road and around M6 Junction 14.
Staffordshire County Council says the road project is fully funded by the developer, Strawsons Property, and is linked to the new commercial development at Creswell.
What work is being done?
The scheme includes:
A new junction for the Stafford Gate development
Road widening on parts of Creswell Grove and Eccleshall Road
Improvements for people walking and cycling
A new puffin crossing on A5013 Creswell Grove
Traffic management and signed diversion routes while the work is carried out
When will the work start?
Work is expected to start in the week beginning Monday 4 May 2026.
The full road project is expected to take around 39 weeks.
How will traffic be affected?
From Monday 11 May 2026, there will be a one-way system towards Eccleshall on A5013 Creswell Grove.
This is being put in place to help keep the works safe.
Staffordshire County Council says there will also be phased traffic management, clear signs and signed diversion routes during the scheme.
Planned traffic phases
The current planned phases include:
From 5 May 2026: Site set-up for around 1 week, with no expected traffic impact
From 11 May 2026: Creswell Grove one-way towards Eccleshall for around 18 weeks
From 11 September 2026: Creswell Grove remains one-way, with reduced lanes on parts of M6 Junction 14
From 18 November 2026: Temporary traffic lights on A5013 Eccleshall Road for around 4 weeks
Christmas period: Around 3 weeks with no traffic management planned
From 11 January 2027: A5013 Eccleshall Road closure at the access to the M6 Junction 14 circulatory, mainly during night works
Dates may change, so drivers should check the official Staffordshire County Council page for the latest updates.
When will the scheme be finished?
The works on A5013 Creswell Grove are expected to finish in November 2026
.
The works on A5013 Eccleshall Road are expected to follow after this and finish by the end of January 2027.
