The Stafford Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a targeted operation in Stafford Town Centre on Friday, 27 February, to address ongoing concerns regarding illegal cycling and vehicle use in pedestrian zones.
The action followed a high number of complaints from the public regarding breaches of the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which is designed to keep the town's central shopping areas safe for pedestrians.

Fines and Penalties Issued
During the afternoon operation, officers issued a total of 18 notices to individuals flouting local regulations:
10 Fixed Penalty Notices were issued to cyclists found to be breaching the PSPO by cycling within the town centre.
8 Conditional Offers were issued to drivers for illegally parking or driving within the town’s designated pedestrianised zones.
In addition to the traffic and cycling offences, officers made three arrests for unrelated matters during the course of the operation.
Listening to Public Concerns
The operation was a direct response to a multitude of complaints from residents and visitors who had highlighted safety issues within the town centre. By enforcing the PSPO, police aim to ensure that the heart of Stafford remains a safe and accessible environment for everyone.
Local officers have indicated that they will continue to monitor these areas to prevent further breaches and maintain public safety.
