Alton Towers bus service from Stafford no longer running

The direct X41 bus from Stafford to Uttoxeter and Alton Towers is no longer running after being cancelled by D&G Bus. A local bus service update published in October said the X41 would be cancelled from 10 November 2025.

That means Stafford has lost its direct bus link to Alton Towers, at least for now. The X41 had previously run as a seasonal service and Stafford Borough Council listed it as starting again from 28 March 2025. Earlier D&G timetable information showed it linking Stafford, Uttoxeter and Alton Towers Resort.

What still runs

The 32A is still shown by D&G as running between Stoke Railway Station and Uttoxeter via Hanley, Werrington, Cheadle and Alton Towers. D&G’s current service page says that route is still operating and still serves Alton Towers.

Mixed information online

One thing that may confuse passengers is that Alton Towers’ own help page still says D&G operates the X41 from Stafford as well as a Stoke route to the resort. That page was still live when checked, even though the separate bus service update said the X41 had been cancelled.

What it means for Stafford passengers

For people in Stafford, it appears there is no longer a direct D&G bus to Alton Towers. Anyone travelling by bus now may need to look at other options, such as changing elsewhere rather than travelling straight from Stafford. The change could also affect people who used the route for work as well as leisure, although D&G’s published update only confirms the service cancellation itself
