There was relief for staff and shoppers in Stafford today as it was confirmed that the Claire's Accessories store at the Riverside shopping centre is not on the list of branches set for closure.
The store's future has been secured after it was included as one of the 145 locations bought in a rescue deal by the retail investor, Modella Capital.
The good news brings an end to a period of anxious waiting for local employees. The announcement follows a week of uncertainty after the chain fell into administration, with initial reports confirming that while a deal had been struck, it would only save around half of the company's 301 UK stores, leaving 156 at risk.

The confirmation that the Stafford branch will remain open is a positive story for the town's retail scene and secures the jobs of the local team. The store is a popular destination for children and teenagers in the town, known for its accessories and ear-piercing services. Modella Capital is now expected to focus on stabilising and investing in the remaining stores.
