Shopping Centres & Retail Parks in Stafford

Stafford has a mix of shopping centres and retail parks offering everything from national chains and everyday essentials to cafés, leisure venues and services. This guide brings together all of Stafford’s main shopping centres and retail parks in one place, helping you decide where to head depending on what you need.

Some locations are well established, while others are changing or awaiting redevelopment. Where plans are still unclear, we have included the most up-to-date information available.

Shopping Centres in Stafford

Guildhall Shopping Centre

The Guildhall Shopping Centre has undergone significant change in recent years. While much of the shopping centre, indoor market and multi-storey car park has been demolished, the front section of the building has been retained as it is a listed structure.

Currently, four businesses remain at the front of the site:

  • Guitar & Watch Surgery

  • The Fragrance Shop

  • Eurochange Stafford

  • F Hinds

At present, there are no confirmed redevelopment plans for the demolished section of the site. The retained frontage continues to operate independently while the future of the wider area remains undecided.

Riverside Stafford & The Waterfront Stafford

Riverside is Stafford’s modern, open-air shopping destination, linking the heart of the town centre with the banks of the River Sow. Opened in 2016, it offers a strong mix of high street brands, food and drink venues, and leisure facilities, making it a popular choice for shopping trips, family meals and evenings out.

The destination is split into two connected areas. Riverside Shopping Centre is home to around 15 retail and food businesses, while the adjoining Waterfront focuses on leisure and dining, with the cinema and several popular restaurants located along the riverside.

Its central location makes Riverside easy to combine with Stafford town centre shopping, and nearby parking options make it suitable for both short visits and longer stays.

Hough Retail Park

Hough Retail Park is focused mainly on home improvement, furniture and quick food stops, with a hotel also located on site. It is particularly popular for larger purchases and practical shopping.

Kingsmead Retail Park

Kingsmead Retail Park is a smaller retail park with a limited number of units, making it ideal for quick and convenient visits rather than long shopping trips.

With around six shops, it is best used as a complementary stop alongside nearby retail parks or the town centre. At present, it does not warrant a standalone guide, but it remains a useful local option.

Madford Retail Park

Madford Retail Park is another smaller retail location serving Stafford, offering a handful of retail units. It is often used by local residents for specific stores rather than full shopping days.

As with Kingsmead, it is best viewed as part of Stafford’s wider retail offer rather than a destination in its own right.
