About the Tulip Festival

Lower Drayton Farm says the festival brings a Dutch style tulip field experience to Staffordshire, with over 250,000 tulip bulbs planted on the working farm near Penkridge, around 1 mile from Junction 13 of the M6. The farm describes it as a spring visit built around colour, photo opportunities, and time outdoors. The Tulip Festival is on from April 3rd until May 4th.

The event is ideal for people who enjoy:

  • spring flowers

  • relaxed walks

  • photos and content creation

  • countryside days out

  • something a bit different in Staffordshire

Late night openings

One of the best times to visit could be the late night sessions, which are listed for:

  • Friday 10 April

  • Saturday 11 April

  • Friday 17 April

  • Saturday 18 April

These later openings give people a bit more time on site and could be a great option if you want a more relaxed visit or hope to get photos later in the day.

Photo opportunities

This is one of the big reasons people will want to visit. Alongside the tulip displays, there are plenty of spots for photos around the site.

You may spot features including:

  • swings

  • a table and chairs setup with swing style seats

  • fire pits

  • a tractor

  • old style bikes

  • a decorated phone box

  • and more around the field

The farm also says there are lots of photo opportunities across the site, alongside the tulip backdrop itself.

Good to know: the fire pits may not always be lit during the event

.

Food and drink

Lower Drayton Farm says the Tulip Festival has its own Blossom & Bloom Tearoom, serving drinks, cakes, snacks, light lunches, and even afternoon tea options. The farm also highlights free parking next to the event area.

That makes it easier if you want to turn it into a longer visit rather than just a quick walk around.

Can you see animals too?

There is also a chance to see Highland cows in paddocks nearby, which adds a bit extra to the visit for animal lovers.

Just keep in mind that this is not the same as a PLAY@ visit, so if you are expecting the play barn as part of your ticket, you would need to book that separately.

Where is it?

The farm says the Tulip Festival is held at Lower Drayton Farm near Penkridge, around 1 mile from Junction 13 of the M6, making it easy to reach from Stafford, Cannock, Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford, Birmingham, and across the wider area.

Accessibility and practical info

Lower Drayton Farm says the tulip field has stone pathways, relatively flat ground with some natural uneven areas, accessible toilets by the café, and parking close to the entrance. The farm also says help may be available for visitors who need extra support getting around the field.

The farm recommends sensible footwear, especially as some parts may be soft underfoot after wet weather.

Are dogs allowed?

The farm says well behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the Tulip Festival. It also notes that dogs are not allowed in PLAY@.

Is it worth visiting?

If you enjoy flowers, taking photos, and finding different seasonal things to do in Staffordshire, this looks like a strong spring option. The late night openings are a nice extra, and the discount code gives you a clear reason to book sooner rather than later.

For people who follow TSS from Stafford and the wider area, this is the sort of place that works well for:

  • couples

  • families with older children

  • friends looking for a photo friendly day out

  • anyone wanting a relaxed spring outing
